Happy Earth Day!

To all of you who still think Earth Day is about saving the planet and not advancing the liberal agenda, here are some the best Earth Day predictions.  I got most of them from freedomworks.org… Remember, this is proven science and there is a consensus in the field.

From 1970…

“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate… that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, ‘Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, ‘I am very sorry, there isn’t any.'” — Ecologist Kenneth Watt

“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.” Kenneth Watt

“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions…. By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.” North Texas State University professor Peter Gunter

“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich

But this wasn’t new to the 1970s…

The question is again being discussed whether recent and long-continued observations do not point to the advent of a second glacial period, when the countries now basking in the fostering warmth of a tropical sun will ultimately give way to the perennial frost and snow of the polar regions – New York Times – February 24, 1895

The discoveries of changes in the sun’s heat and southward advance of glaciers in recent years have given rise to the conjectures of the possible advent of a new ice age – Time Magazine 9/10/1923

A mysterious warming of the climate is slowly manifesting itself in the Arctic, engendering a “serious international problem,” – New York Times – May 30, 1947

And don’t forget about Ted Danson in 1988 saying we have 10 years to save the oceans. 25 years later he is still saving them. We also have less than 3 years left on Al Gore’s doomsday prediction of the earth cooking.

These guys still have jobs!

I hope you all enjoyed Earth Day while we still have an Earth!

God Bless Freedom, Liberty, and Personal Property,

  1. Classic…. nothing like some good ol’ scare tactics, where is the need to say anything of substance when no one will call you on it anyway!

  2. My new favorite statistic: If the US reaches its goal of 1 million electric cars by 2015 (at a cost of over $7 billion to taxpayers) we can expect to slow the global warming process by 60 minutes.

  3. I think it’s worthy to say that every day we should be good stewards of what God has given and entrusted to us.

  4. Lisa S: You make a good point. And Slappy, you are dead on with this piece.
Quick Question: what about the Gosnell story? I’d be curious to see a piece on this under Social Issues. This is an extremely important issue right in the midst of our daily lives and we are letting the liberal media get away by trying to downplay the story. I would be happy to do the research.

    • Mr. Drexel, I have been following the Gosnell story for a long time now. I actually read the entire grand jury report when it was released back in January 2011. The reason I have not written anything yet isn’t because I don’t know what to say, it is because I can’t figure out a way to keep it short. I want to make sure I get my points across in a meaningful, concise, consistent fashion. I have read too much on the case not to give my opinion, so please check back soon.
