Venezuela gets all the attention for socialism in South America, but it’s certainly not the only country that has experienced its ravages in the continent.  Brazil has suffered under the policies and practices of socialism for years.  We brought our friend, Nina Maria Bastiat, as a guest on our show to talk about political and economic life in Brazil.  As bad as it can be in the United States, it’s very easy to take for granted how good Americans have it when compared to other countries around the world.

Nina brings wonderful knowledge and insight into not only the bad policies of the socialist government but also into the terrible corruption that pervades the country as a result.  And as a nurse, she has plenty to say about the socialist healthcare system.

But there is hope.  The former President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, or Lula, was tried and convicted for his involvement in his government’s corruption and is set to serve a long prison sentence.  This is unheard of.  On top of that, the people are becoming fed up with the government and the socialism in Brazil.  Many of them are seeking answers in libertarianism and the privatization measures that the government has been taking have been producing real results for the people.  The people have even taken a liking for cryptocurrency.
