I just wanted to write an update on my last post. I no longer feel like trying to figure out why people marry politicians and political parties. I’ve just accepted that most people are Democrats like someone from Chicago is a Cubs fan. My Dad is a Democrat, so I am a Democrat; I’m from Chicago, so I am a Cubs fan. They don’t care what the legislation is, they like it if it is a democrat they hate it if it is a republican. I know it works both ways with both dems and republicans so if anyone reads this, don’t get all up in arms. However, I really do get annoyed that they say George W Bush is conservative and they contest conservatism based on what GWB did in office…get a clue and do some research, please.
I also decided I’m not going to figure out what people think economics is. I already know the answer so I don’t need to poll my unsuspecting friends. How many times have you heard an athlete say, “we’re working on the economics of the deal”? While technically they’re right, looking for the equilibrium point, they actually mean dollars. Economics is not equal to dollars. Here is one of my favorite quotes from Murray Rothbard:
“It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a ‘dismal science.’ But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance.”
As for No Child Left Behind…I’m reading the whole damn thing, which is more than 99.99% of teachers who bitch about it have done. I know, I know, teachers deal with the effects of it everyday, so they have a better idea how the bill “works” in the real world. But I’ll bet most the people who passed the bill didn’t even read it, so at least I’ll have that on them! It is a 670 page PDF, so it is taking some time to suffer through it, the writing is incredibly boring and hard to follow. I’m also in the midst of changing jobs which requires me to study for my new gig. Anyway, I’ll continue writing notes and show why true democrats should love the legislation. it has liberal democrat finger prints all over it!
God bless freedom, liberty, and personal property,
