Episode 95 – How the market would handle government police fists of fury

button-stitcher-shine downloadwatch-us-on-youtube

There has been a string of fairly publicized videos of police viciously beating people for no good reason.  We discuss the cases of Emily Weinman in Wildwood, NJ, Robert Johnson in Mesa, AZ, and Kevin Straw in Marion County, OR.  The videos show that the police’s behavior was appalling for each case, but some people still feel the need to defend them.  Why do people feel the need to be police apologists when all of the evidence shows that they are wrong?

We then transition into talking about how these issues would be dealt with in a world with free market police.  How would these problems be avoided and how would people react if they did happen?

Videos discussed
Mesa Police beat Robert Johnson for not sitting
Wildwood Police punch 20 year old Emily Weinman for not giving her name after passing a breathalyzer twice
Marion County Police beat homeless man, Kevin Straw, during a search and rescue
